The Lady Bucs competed in the 24-6A District Track Meet earlier this week in Dickinson. The Lady Bucs had a great day, breaking many of their PR's (Personal Records). The ladies finished 6th in the overall standings, an improvement from previous year's district meets. Senior Joslyn Garza set a PR in the discus, with a throw of 118' 1". Garza placed 2nd and will move on to the UIL Area Meet. Freshman, Brooklyn Baker made finals in both the 100 and 200 meter dash. Baker placed 7th in the 200 with a new PR of 26.65 and placed 6th, earning team points, in the 100 with another PR of 12.79. Baker's work wasn't finished there. Brooklyn took home a silver medal in the triple jump with a jump of 34'6" and 4th in the long jump with a jump of 16'8". Baker will advance to the UIL Area Meet in both the long and triple jump. The class of 2024 would score big for the Lady Bucs once again with Freshman Maya Funk having an outstanding meet. Wednesday night Funk took home the gold in the 3200m run. Funk set a PR of 11:56, with the closest runner 9 seconds behind her. Thursday night Funk came back to earn 4th place in the 1600m run with a time of 5:25. This smashed her old PR, of 5:42, by 17 seconds! Garza, Baker and Funk will all advance to the UIL Area Meet April 15th at Pearland ISD The Rig stadium. These Lady Bucs will have to earn top 4 in this meet to advance to the UIL Regional Track Meet.
