Bucs off to a Fast Start

The Brazoswood Men’s Varsity Track Team made their 2021 debut at the Santa Fe Quad Meet and the Bucs are off to an impressive start.
Sam Whitmarsh won the 400m dash, 800m run, and was the first leg of the 1st place mile relay. Whitmarsh posted a 49.5 second time in the 400m and ran a 1:53 in the 800m. Whitmarsh was joined on the mile relay by: Patton, O’Connell, and Harris.
Sophomore, Haydn Harris, placed second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 44.24, he also placed second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.17. Harris once again took home second place in the long jump with a distance of 19’3”.
The Bucs shined in the 3200m as Charles Patton, Giovanni Diaz, and Riley Kuhlman took home 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. Diaz also placed 4th in the 1600m while teammates Riley Kuhlman placed 2nd and Diego Moya placed 3rd.
Both of the Bucs short relays placed 3rd. The 4X100 was comprised of: Dawson Hall, Cole Hagen, Croix Rivera, and Jarvis Joseph and the 4X200 of: Dawson Hall, Cole Hagen, Austin O’Connell, and Jarvis Joseph.
Diego Moya finished 2nd in the 800m run and Jacob Markham placed 3rd in the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet.
The Buc throwers also made a statement with every member pointing for the team. Dijon James won the discus while Dominic Escamilla was the runner-up and Damian Lopez took 4th place. In the shot put James placed 2nd, Escamilla 3rd, and Dacoda Lopez placed 5th.
The Bucs will be back in action next Friday at the Reggie Crosby Relays in Santa Fe, TX.
